A blood donation session for new and exiting donors. Please book an appointment now to save up to three peoples lives. The NHS requires almost 6,000 units of donated blood every day to help save the lives of people during childbirth, after accidents and other emergencies. Blood is also used to treat blood disorders such as sickle cell anaemia and some cancers. Most people can donate yet less than 3% of the population are active donors. New black donors are particularly needed to help people with a similar ethnicity who require blood and a close ethnic match. Black people are more likely to have a rare blood type called Ro which is vital for people with sickle cell disease.
